The courses that Kris Verdonck (1974) took – visual arts, architecture and theatre – are
reflected in the work he produces: we may position his creation on the border between visual
art and theatre, between installation and performance, between dance and architecture.
As both a director and visual artist he is credited with a variety of projects, amongst others: 5
(2003), Catching Whales Is Easy (2004), II (2005). He often presents combinations of various
installations/performances in the shape of Variations. Variation IV, a circuit of 7 installations,
was shown during the festival of Avignon in 2008. The premiere of Actor #1 took place in
January 2010 – three variations on the theme of chaos towards order – in the Kaai theatre in
Brussels. His most recent creation K, a Society – a circuit of installations inspired by Franz
Kafka’s work – premiered in July 2010 during Theater der Welt 2010 in Essen (Germany).
